About Me:
My name is Eddie Shannon. I am a flexible composer with experience writing pieces in a variety of musical styles, from medieval organum to contemporary big orchestral and electronic sounds. I am proficient in the following types of harmonic languages:
Ancient Greek modes/Medieval polyphony
"Common Practice" traditional classical harmony
Turko-Arabic maqam
Late Romantic ("Bernard Herrmann")
Electronic ("Blade Runner")
Microtonal/Xenharmonic
Exotonal
I have experience working in video game development and film production through UNT's own Scrappy Studios and Short Film Club.
I have experience working with musicians in a variety of concert settings as well, from solo pieces for cello, flute, piano, and more, and string quartet pieces with dance. I have experience learning to play microtonal music myself, so I can guide musicians through the ear training necessary to perform in alternate tuning systems if necessary. I am open for commissions!
